Letting go let’s us grow, goes the phrase.  Have you been noticing some shifts as we have changed seasons?  For those in the Northern hemisphere, the autumnal equinox occurs around September 22nd.  This period marks the time when we begin to experience more darkness than light over the 24-hour cycle of the day than we have had over the Spring and Summer.  As this shift has been occurring, some of us may be seeing more of our own darkness or pain reflected in the world around us.  Also for some, having more periods of darkness is a welcome opportunity to slow down and do less in a day.

For much of human history, a spiritual celebration helped mark the autumnal equinox, to honor of the change of seasons, which used to pose a massive challenge to our survival as humans.  Individual and community rituals can be very helpful in these times of transition.

As you consider this shift in the seasons, and how that plays out for you, give thought to what you are readily leaving behind, or are nearly ready to leave behind.  Do you have a ritual that you use to ease that transition?

By letting go of what is ending, and consciously marking the event, you are making space.  Reflect on what it is that you are ready to welcome into your life in the days ahead.  Perhaps it is simply more space.  Perhaps it is something new, something different.

Know that if you feel challenged by the coming season, you are not alone.  Kudos to you for being willing to recognize your vulnerabilities.  Remember that a load shared is a load lightened.  Who might you reach out to at this time?

Each of us brings unique gifts, talents, experiences and wisdom to each relationship, to each role we hold, to each interaction that we have.  Considering this, take a moment to consciously make note of a capability or strength that you know yourself to have that might be of service to yourself or someone that you know in the season ahead.

Be well on your journey!
